Athlete’s Foot can be transmitted not only directly from person to person, but also indirectly via floors, towels or shoes.
Closed shoes (e.g. sneakers) provide the fungus with the warm, moist environment it needs to thrive and spread.
An untreated Athlete’s Foot infection can also spread to other parts of the body (hands, toenails, or groin area). Even short skin to skin contact can be enough.
